Art History Club Travels to Toronto

Twelve members of the Art History Club and the club's faculty adviser Professor Meghen Jones travelled to Toronto on September 30-October 1, 2016 to view exhibitions at the Gardiner Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Dr. Karine Tsoumis at the Gardiner and Dr. Akiko Takesue at the Royal Ontario Museum shared insights into the histories of the museums and curatorial practices. Students also visited the film production studio of Marty Gross and viewed clips from his current Mingei Film Archive Project. Japan Encountered

Fourteen students in Professor Meghen Jones’s Spring 2016 B block course ARTH 140 Encountering Japan: Art, Aesthetics, and Society travelled to Japan in May for a ten day immersion in Japanese culture. There, the group joined Professor Bruce Rosenthal and four students in his MGMT 300/MBA 600 course Encountering Japan: Business and Society. This year’s program was the second in two years for Alfred Uuniversity students, following Professor Rosenthal’s Spring 2015 program for eighteen School of Business students.
