Japan Encountered

October 13, 2016

Fourteen students in Professor Meghen Jones’s Spring 2016 B block course ARTH 140 Encountering Japan: Art, Aesthetics, and Society travelled to Japan in May for a ten day immersion in Japanese culture. There, the group joined Professor Bruce Rosenthal and four students in his MGMT 300/MBA 600 course Encountering Japan: Business and Society. This year’s program was the second in two years for Alfred Uuniversity students, following Professor Rosenthal’s Spring 2015 program for eighteen School of Business students. This year, throughout Tokyo, Nikko, Kyoto, and Nara, students witnessed the dynamic visual cultures of street fashion, experiencing the rarified realm of the tea ceremony, viewed national treasures in museums, and much more.

For more information on this program, contact Professor Jones (jonesmm@alfred.edu) or International Programs Coordinator Jeanne Marion (marion@alfred.edu).

All are welcome to a Bergren Forum presentation by students on the program, "Encountering Japan: From Anime to Zen" on Thursday October 27th, 2016, at 12:10pm in Nevins Auditorium.
